“In the effort of the government to ensure security of lives and properties, the governor considered it necessary to rejig the security architecture of the state by establishing additional informal security outfits that will have community participation to complement the effort of the formal security agencies in the state hence the establishment of Amotekun, Agro-Marshal and Anti-Grazing Corps in Ekiti State.Ekiti recruits 400 new Amotekun , agro - marshall corps to strengthen security Ekiti State Government has recruited an additional 404 personnel into the Ekiti State Security Network Agency, (also known as Amotekun), the Agro-Marshal and Anti-grazing corps as part of its efforts to strengthen the state’s security architecture especially at the grassroots.Mr Ogundana, a retired brigadier general, who represented the governor at the event, described the recruitment of the new security operatives as a sustained investment in the state’s security architecture, which underscores the administration’s commitment to safety of lives and property of its residents.

Nigeria : ASUU Kicks Against Renaming Unimaid After Buhari , Mulls Lawsuit The University of Maiduguri chapter of Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) has warned the federal government of the potential consequences of President Bola Tinubu's renaming the institution after Late former President Muhammadu Buhari.The ASUU Chairman while noting that every federal university in the country was established by an Act of National Assembly, said the name of the University of Maiduguri was enshrined in an enabling law, stressing that renaming it requires legislative amendment.The key provisions of the Act requires the consultation of the Governing Council of the University, the Senate, the Union, other stakeholders, and of course, the President or the Minister of Education cannot change the name of the University without due process," said Dr Mshelia.

A new policy document on Non-State Schools launched by the Federal Ministry of Education last week has pegged the entry age for pupils seeking admission into Junior Secondary Schools after completing six years of primary education at 12.They shall be admitted into Junior Secondary School (JSS1) when they have completed six (6) years of primary education, at around the age of twelve (12) years.The Nigeria Education Digest 2022, published by the ministry, indicated that “Non-state schools outnumber state schools in at least 26 states of the federation at the Junior Secondary level, whereas at the primary level, state schools outnumber non-state schools in 19 states of the federation.
